Need an advice
Hello everyone,
I’m originally from Ukraine and have been living with my parents in Lower Saxony, Germany for more than two years now. I’m already an adult, and I no longer have problems with the German language. I passed my B1 exam more than a year ago. Right now I study in a class together with German students and also do internships where everyone speaks German.
At the moment, I’m doing BFS Dual in Göttingen. At the same time, in two months I will finish my college studies in Ukraine, where I have been studying programming for four years.
I’ve realized that I don’t want to stay in school any longer because I’m not learning what actually interests me there. The subjects have nothing to do with programming, and honestly I find it very boring. That’s why I decided to do an Ausbildung instead.
Unfortunately, at the beginning I didn’t really understand how the Ausbildung application process works or when applications should be submitted, so I wasn’t as prepared as I should have been. Because of that, I currently only have two concrete options:
Sartorius in Göttingen
WM SE in Osnabrück
I was accepted into the IT departments of both companies, and these positions are at the companies’ headquarters. Now I honestly don’t know which one to choose.
Neither of these companies is actually an IT company, and that’s exactly why I’m unsure. I’m really interested in programming: Java, Python, C++, web development, mobile app development, and maybe even some design. I want to continue developing myself in that direction.
Maybe someone here has experience with the IT departments at Sartorius or WM SE? What is the Ausbildung there like? Are there good opportunities to grow in IT and programming, or not really?
At the moment, I don’t live in either Göttingen or Osnabrück, so I would have to move anyway. In Göttingen, however, I could possibly continue living with my parents for some time.
Sometimes I also wonder if it would be better to wait one more year and apply to a stronger IT company next year. On the other hand, I also don’t want to lose time.
I would really appreciate honest opinions or experiences :)
