How to deal with thumb pain?

I think I may have dislocated my "good" thumb in my sleep just over a week ago and it is really sore (throbbing pain) at the base, I can't move it without pain, which is not my normal. I'm already taking Codiene and I've taken ibuprofen to try to reduce the inflammation but neither are really helpful. I've also used ibuprofen gel but that did nothing. I'm going to visit my doctor when they're open, is there anything else I could try?
