Dating apps (I need guidance)

I’m 21 and moving in to germany in a few months and i feel like it’s time to lose my virginity finally but i still can’t wrap my head around how people can use dating apps so casually. I’m not judging and know it’s hundred percent normal to use them as a gay person but i don’t wanna get axe murdered to catch some dick. Concept of meeting with someone just for the sheer reason to fuck is crazy to me. Did you just start using them and get used to it? At what point you became normal about it and is it normal to became anxious because i never had one? The concept is still crazy to me but i know i gotta use it if i wanna fuck.
