I’m a straight-A student, but my parents treat my simplest ‘aesthetic’ requests like a crime—I’m tired of crying over stickers

"I want to be 'cool' like other girls, and I want my room, my stuff, and my clothes to have that aesthetic vibe, but I just can’t. Every time I ask my parents, they refuse. I follow shops that sell these things even though I know they won’t let me buy anything. The moment I open the subject, they get angry—it’s as if I asked for a boyfriend, not stickers!

The problem is that these things cost the same as anything else; they are cheap, but they still say, 'How could you ask for such things?' Even if I offer to use my own allowance, they refuse. I want my room and my belongings to be beautiful like theirs, but why am I not allowed? I really want to start journaling and do creative things, but I don’t have the supplies, and I’ll never have them because of them.

Even though I’m a high achiever in school, they don’t care. They act like it’s just expected. They don’t encourage me or even get me a gift. Why do these other girls have parents who buy them these things, or at least let them save up and buy them with their own money? I don’t even have that.

It’s reached a point where I’m afraid to ask to go to the mall, go out, or order anything because I know they’ll refuse—even with food. I know they’ll just ignore my request. They make me feel like asking for something is a crime. Imagine, I’ve even stopped asking for cheese because they won’t buy it only if they wanted it. Even my older sister—once she and her friend wanted to order from Shein, and when I asked to join them, she refused, even though her friend was okay with it.

Every girl gets to live normally except for me. It’s forbidden for me to be 'cool' or have nice things. Why do I have to keep seeing these things, wishing for them, and crying because I want them but they won’t let me?"
