Is it okay to change my name before college and flight training to become a commercial pilot.

Not the USA

Hi, I’m new here, and I hope this question is okay to ask. Please be respectful, thank you.

I’m currently in 12th grade, and I’ve been thinking about legally changing my full name before college and flight training start. The main reason is because of the negative stigma connected to my family name and some personal family issues. It’s not really because of trauma, and I don’t want to rant about it, but I honestly want a fresh start for myself and my future.

My goal is to become a pilot, and I want to build my own path and eventually create a better future and family generation that won’t be connected to the issues tied to my current family name. I want to focus on aviation, explore opportunities, and enjoy the career without constantly carrying the weight of my old family identity.

I searched online and saw that changing a name in the Philippines involves going through court and updating documents such as IDs, school records, and Form 137 (high school transcript). From what I understand, if I do it before college, my new name would appear in my future college and flight training records.

I just wanted to verify if this is actually possible and ask for opinions from people who may know more about this process. Are there things I should worry about in the future if I legally change my name? Could it affect aviation training, licenses, employment, or international opportunities later on? Or would it be better not to change it at all?

Bonus question: Should I be worried about the medical or health tests required for pilots? I’ve heard they can be difficult to pass.

Thank you very much for your time and advice.
