The “phone” or lack thereof, a psychedelic philosophic inquiry.

This is a conversation me and my buddies had in the backyard around a fire while tripping balls.

It started with a simple question, “if the people watching the Roman Colosseum had Instagram reels, would they still watch people die?” This prompted a joking response, “If I didn’t have my phone, I would kill people.” And just like that the seed was planted, “guy who kills people and is crazy if he doesn’t have the phone.”

2: “You probably NEED the phone, because without it, there is blood everywhere, you’re naked, and you’re killing people, etc.”

1: “What if I want to be crazy and kill people, (blood everywhere, naked, etc.)”

2: “Then you’re crazy and you need the phone.”

1: “What if I don’t have the phone, but I’m NOT crazy,(blood everywhere, killing people, naked, etc.)

2: “That’s not possible. If you don’t have it, things are fucking crazy, (blood everywhere, naked, killing people, etc.) so even if you DIDN’T have it, or a phone didn’t exist, as long as you’re not crazy, (blood everywhere, naked, killing people, etc.) you MUST have “it”.”

1: “Trolley problem: 6 people or the phone?”

2: “Well you can’t, pick the phone, because without the phone things are crazy, (killing people, naked, blood everywhere, etc…)”

1: “What if you want to be crazy and kill the phone and everyone?”

2: “Then you’re crazy and you need the phone.”

3: “Guys we need to stop talking about the phone.”

1: “It doesn’t matter because as long as we’re not crazy, (naked, killing people, blood everywhere, etc) the phone is there”

3: “You just said it, dude. I wonder what the people in the houses next to us are thinking about this conversation.” (We were really fucking loud)

2: “they probably think we need our phones.”

At this point, the phone is always there, assuming things aren’t fucking crazy, (blood everywhere, killing people, naked, etc…), the phone has to exist and you have to have it because things aren’t crazy, and it’s bad if they are. The phone is something that isn’t anything else, so as long as it exists, anything else doesn’t.
