Update AITJ for blocking my partner after they accidentally sent a vent message about me?

UPDATE
TL ; DR: My ex asked for something back and was disrespectful. A friend stuck up as I blocked any route of contact for I am over this.

Didn’t expect to update—

They messaged me right as I was about to block them on the last line of contact I gave them. This was specifically meant for emergencies, or for the part of me that wondered if they would ever reach out.

My ex-partner asked for a character sheet from a shared activity that I had held onto. I was planning to drop it off within a week or so anyway, but they wanted to use it to save time on a project. I shouldn’t have, but I responded instead of blocking them.

I hoped I could give it back and have them leave me alone. It felt really strange for them to message me after I had already said I was blocking them the day before. They contacted me the very next day. I asked about the project timeline and said I would accommodate returning it within that timeframe. I also explained that I was busy this week and would need to check my schedule for a good time.

After that, they sent disrespectful messages: “It shouldn’t be hard to put it in your bag,” etc. I replied that I was busy and that they needed to respect that. I reminded them they were lucky I replied at all, since I had blocked them for space and asked them not to contact me until I left.

Like they had been doing with our friends, they were condescending and demeaning.

I then asked for something of mine to be returned: a beautiful Afghan I crocheted for months. I said I would get back to them with a date when I could meet up.

After that, they tried to extort me by saying they wouldn’t give the Afghan back unless I returned what they asked for, along with a list of other items.

I restated that I had already said I would give it back when I was available, and asked them again to show some respect instead of resorting to extortion when I had already agreed.

They claimed what I said wasn’t true, but I sent them the definition of extortion along with a screenshot where I had already agreed to return the item. I again asked them to respect my boundaries and stop texting me until I confirmed a time and place.

For a moment it was quiet, but then they sent multiple long paragraphs saying I was “off topic.” They even used the exact same wording I had used when asking for my blanket back to demand their own stuff, and said they wouldn’t stop messaging me until I confirmed I would return it.

I muted them. Then I went to their former best friend — someone they had shouted at a lot before that I messaged in the original post— and sent screenshots of the conversation. They offered to call me, made me feel supported, and told me I deserved better. This person has been my rock and hugged me as I cried, they made sure that I could feel safe, happy, and cared for.

As for my ex, I would have been fine if it wasn't disrespectful. I had no energy to deal with this situation, it's awful but I have moved on already. So when my friend said they could give the date on my behalf, I agreed.

Though when my friend casually brought me up, they went on a shit talk spree... Me and my friend sat for a moment. I let my friend tell them the date, and for backtalking they should say that to me in person then apologize.

Only after this moment, the messages stopped and I have blocked them. I should've done it myself but I wanted to just leave me alone. Maybe I am a jerk for that but this was very silly. I think I got perspective on how splitting assets under divorce would feel if one didn't want to respect the other...

I feel icky after this... I'm going to let them get their stuff to avoid future issues and get that Afghan I left behind, I didn't think I could get it back. It has many lacings and things that took ages. I'll have that friend accompany me when they get their stuff just to be safe and it be in a public space right near camaras so I can feel safe.

Might update what goes down Friday. Any advice?
