Cyclone 2 and Nvidia Shield issues with Bluetooth and dongle
I’ve been using an Xbox controller with my Nvidia Shield for Moonlight streaming for a while, but decided it was time for an upgrade and picked up the GameSir Cyclone 2. After updating the firmware for the controller and dongle, I ran into some annoying issues.
While the Shield recognizes the dongle, it fails to detect any button presses in XInput mode. It works in DInput and Switch modes, but DInput has major compatibility issues with PC games, either the controller isn't detected at all, or it works and displays PlayStation button prompts, which is pretty annoying.
I also tried connecting via Bluetooth, but the controller freezes completely upon connection, requiring a reset via the button in the back. According to GameSir’s Discord support, this is a known bug with the latest firmware and apparently, a downgrade is required to get Bluetooth working with the Shield.
It’s a shame because, hardware wise, this feels like a fantastic upgrade over the Xbox controller. It’s light, ergonomic, and has some nice features.
