I need to vent
I need some perspective on a situation at work. I work in a completely different section of the department, but I was recently tasked with finishing a high-end order that came directly from the property owners. This task requires a specific finishing skill that I simply do not have, and my seniors and the Head of Department (HOD) are fully aware of this training gap. Despite knowing I am not skilled in this area, they demanded the order be finished in 30 minutes. Because I had to rush a technique I haven’t been taught, the final result wasn't presentable. Now, I’m facing a massive backlash from my seniors and the main Chef, who are shaming me and saying I should "just know" how to do it by now. I feel it’s unfair to be blamed for a poor result when management knowingly assigned a task to someone outside their section without the proper training or time to do it right. What do you all think?
