With tonight’s elimination, Joel Embiid remains the only MVP in NBA history to never reach the Conference Finals.

This streak stays alive as New York’s second-round sweep of Philadelphia ends tonight. So far in Embiid’s 12-year career, the furthest he’s made it is game 7 of the second round (in 2019, 2021, and 2023).

Like Embiid, former MVPs Steve Nash and Derrick Rose never reached the NBA Finals- but both did at least reach the Conference Finals.

“OP, Embiid’s been playing great. You’re clearly just agenda-posting about him because you’re still mad that he embarrassed your team.”

Yes.
