New ordering system?

I went to subway today and it seems like there’s a new ordering system. You can no longer order your sub from a person, only through the self service kiosk thing. I had a coupon with me that I wanted to use, but wasn’t able to because the worker said they no longer had a QR code scanner? What?? They told me to order online if I wanted to use the coupon, but the coupon that I have specifically says it’s for in store only. What is this new system? I image this would be very difficult for older people to navigate.
