A couple thoughts… (spoilers)
Teeth and story walkers and golems, oh my!!!
First one is a question/theory, which blends to the rest.
We’ve been told and characters have suggested the entire show that Fromville is never trying to help them, right? Ok…
- I don’t think the monsters are the parents of the sacrificed children like Fatima was told. (I personally think it’s some of the people of the town. Jade, Tabitha, Abby and some others I’m still working on.)
I think they’re created, like pawns, hence the numerous chess references, and if im right, the pastor (Sophia’s Dad) will be one soon. Sophia took his tooth and When they were doing the autopsy on Smiley, all he had in his pockets were a wallet… and a tooth. We never saw what she did with it, but I’m guessing she put it in his pocket before he was buried. It’s all about terrifying them into chaos and tearing each other apart. I think showing that if they die they could come back as one of those monsters would make them panic and do irrational things to try and leave.
So possibly Fatima has been marked too due to her losing a tooth while pregnant with the Smiley thing. Maybe she’ll be puppeted without dieing…
- Building off of that, I think the Golem is BAD! Her and smiley are connected and he likes when she is scared. She said that building this is the only way to make her feel unafraid and powerful…
What if she is being manipulated into thinking that? If they’re connected and he can feel what she feels and vice versa, then it stands to reason he’s making her feel strong while building it. But if Smiley is making her build it like a puppet master, that would mean they would have a monster inside the house at night, and we all know once they’re in, the talismans don’t work. Also whenever Boyd gets hope about something, you know it’s gonna be something terrible. I got baaaad vibes about that Golem.
- And finally. MIY tells them you can’t change the story once it’s been told so everyone stops trying except Julie. She’s the only one that understands she isn’t trying to change it, she wants to create the ending they need like victor told them his mother used to say. So it’s more writing a new story rather than changing it. Everytime the people or voices say anything, it’s setting the pieces on the chess board where they’re supposed to be according to whatever controls the village.
Some tin foil here for sure, but also logical in a place where anything is possible. Love this kind of show!
