Balance between pushing the car and pushing towards enemy spawn after wipe

Hello, im a gm lobby support main, during convoy/convergence after a team wipe or a point clear majority of my teammates always push up to the enemy spawn hoping to catch 1-2 people before their teammates respawn. I ve always been advocating for 3 people on car to maximize speed. Am i in the wrong for crashing out. I know there are situations where you can stagger them but especially after a full team wipe is a bit unnecssary imo. Does this question have a real answer from a high level player perspective or is it always "it depends".
