Before anyone asks, please don’t ask my GATE score or rank. I’m already fed up hearing and thinking about it constantly.

I’m honestly exhausted at this point. The lack of coordination between IITs during admissions is absolutely ridiculous.

I wanted to get into Indian Institute of Technology Jodhpur through GATE. My score is average, so fellowship chances are uncertain, but my teachers told me that institute suited my profile well. Some of my close friends are there too, so I really wanted that college badly. I was desperate enough that I even applied in the non-fellowship category just to increase my chances somehow.

Initially everything looked manageable. IIT Jodhpur scheduled the AI/CDS written test and interview on 8th and 12th May.

Then suddenly Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad scheduled the MTech RA written test on 7th May. Hyderabad to Jodhpur immediately after that? Bro, not everyone can casually afford last-minute flights. I basically had to sacrifice one opportunity because of money and scheduling.

I somehow adjusted mentally and decided to focus on another exam(CDS) which is on 12th may but IIT B C-MInDS on 11th May. My whole plan was to attend that and then travel for Jodhpur.

And now IIT Bombay suddenly rescheduled it to 12th May.

Like seriously, what the actual f\*\*k is this scheduling?

The same students apply to multiple IITs. This isn’t some rare situation. Do these institutes not communicate at all before releasing dates? Students are already stressed about careers, interviews, travel, money, uncertainty, and pressure from every side. On top of that we have to deal with schedule clashes that force us to sacrifice opportunities.

People sitting in administration probably don’t realize that not everyone has the money to instantly book flights and jump between cities within hours.

What the hell is wrong with IIT admissions this year? Do these institutes even coordinate?
