Removing spark plugs - hot or cold.

I got told as a kid to remove spark plugs hot so the carbon would let go / less chance of a stuck one.

I use a tiny bit of antiseize and torque them properly.

Is my method making a difference? Can I just yank them cold? Any other tips or tricks?
