Supernova?

I do not have instrumentation currently, but I saw a audden burst of light while looking at the stars ovee the ocean just now. I then recall being told to expect to see a supernova (T Corona Borealis) appearing near the constellation I realized I was observing sometime soon by the Rose City Astronomy group. Anything to this from someone more up on the information or able to confirm?
