TIL there's a Polynesian moon calendar (Maramatahi) that pairs surprisingly well with tarot daily draws β sharing what I learned
Heyπ
I've been doing daily one-card pulls for years, and recently I stumbled
on the Tahitian/Polynesian lunar calendar called **Maramatahi**. It
divides each lunar month into 30 named nights, each with its own energy
β some are "high tide" nights for action, some are silent nights for
introspection, some are forbidden for fishing or planting.
What blew my mind is how naturally it overlays on tarot practice. A few
examples I've tested over the last 6 weeks:
- **Hotu** (full moon nights) β cards I draw tend to be Major Arcana
more often, and the readings hit harder. Could be confirmation bias,
but it's been consistent.
- **'Ore'ore** (the dark/new moon nights) β great for Devil/Tower/Moon
cards work β shadow stuff comes up easily.
- **MΔ'uri** (post-full moon, "letting go" nights) β perfect for the
Death / Hanged Man integration questions.
The Polynesian framing also gave me a different vocabulary for
"unfavorable" cards β instead of "bad," it's just "this is a rest night,
not a build night."
I keep a tab open with the daily Maramatahi night for reference
([romytahiti.com/maramatahi](https://romytahiti.com/maramatahi)) β full

Anyone else here mix tarot with non-Western lunar systems? Curious if
people use the Mansions of the Moon or Chinese lunar nodes the same way.
