Halfway there (500k net worth) 28M
Just hit 500k net worth at 28 (turn 29 in July) and starting to really focus on pushing to 1M. I started investing around late 2021 after graduating college. Took a longer route (3 years community college + 3 years university), didn’t start working until Sept 2021, so that’s when I really started saving and investing.
I’m in sales now (commission heavy). 2025 was a rough year after switching jobs, but I’m doing a lot better in my current role and saving aggressively again.
Living in Denver, expenses are around 60–70k/year. No debt, car paid off, single. I’ve got about 44k in cash (30k in a HYSA for emergency fund, rest in checking), and everything else is invested across 401k, Roth IRA, and a brokerage account I have with facet wealth.
Based on income and savings rate now I’m thinking I can hit 1M around 32–33, but trying to figure out if I can speed that up. Debating whether to stay mostly in index funds or start putting more into individual stocks, especially with a big commission check coming at the end of May.
Curious how others approached the jump from 500k to 1M and if taking on more concentration actually made a difference.
