If the UFL is a “TV Product,” fill the stands like other TV shows.
So here’s my cracked take for the week:
We’ve heard from a lot of people that the league is effectively a TV product to fill time for FOX, Disney, etc.
So why don’t we take that to its logical conclusion? If we need to fill seats, use audience filling companies like On-Camera Audiences, 1iota, etc. to get some filler!
Does it mean we’re effectively papering the games? Yeah. Could it cost money if the audiences are paid? Possibly. Depending on how much, it may go from 500k-1m a week in costs to add about 2,500-4,000 a game. But it could be as simple as comped parking. Would it create a more full stadium and make the product more alluring? Definitely; which in turn means more viewers, more ad revenue, more sponsors, and eventually creating a return on investments.
As I said, it’s an incredibly crazy and probably stupid idea. But wanted to get thoughts on it.
