Om-10 issue. Battery or Magnet?

Question

Hey yall, recently bought an OM10 off marketplace. I got took a lot of pictures and got 3 rolls developed, have a 4th im about to send out.

While on my current roll, i took a timed picture (my buddies and I with our cars) and maybe 1 or 2 shots after that. Then the shutter stuck and i figured “hey, ive taken a lot of pictures and messed around with it a lot, probably needs new batteries.”

So a quick trip to walmart and voila new batteries. I took one shot and on the second I noticed that the light meter didnt come on, i took the shot anyway and suddenly the light meter worked, but doesnt matter because i already took the shot, i advanced my film and same issue, no light meter, test light doesnt come on or beep.

Ive been messing with it and looking up videos but I dont want to get too deep without being 100% sure what the problem is.

The light meter ONLY works after firing, and before advancing the film. (I guess “between shots” is the correct term) it will also beep and light up only between shots. The timer does work. And sometimes the shutter will stay open and removing/replacing the batteries will shut it.

FYI i removed the roll in it to atleast save the 13 shots i got on it.

Before I get too deep into the camera. Does anyone on this sub happen to have a solution or have gone through the same issue? Could it be that i am using alkaline batteries and should instead use silver oxide? (Probably sounds dumb but thats what chatgpt suggested, already have a pack coming from amazon) or do i need to clean the shutter magnet?
