When does cancer stop consuming your life?

I even have dreams about cancer. Everything I see during the day is a trigger. When does it get better? I know I’m fresh in it just finishing chemo and surgery but when will I not wake up in the middle of the night from a nightmare about recurrence? When will I be able to start thinking about the future again?
