Will this team ever figure out how to throw different coverages at star players on defense like JJ Reddick & Lakers?

I love this wolves team and think they’re well coached… but man we play the most saddest coverages on defense. We still play Individual defense instead of team synergy defense like Lakers, OKC, Spurs, and Knicks.

Finch just prays McDaniels & Gobert can somehow stop opponents star players by themselves with no true help side gap defense. It’s gonna be year 3 where we’re gonna watch McDaniels fight over screens and get killed by the midrange from players like Fox, Castle, Shai, and Harper. Why don’t they ever change the gameplan? We saw what happened when Kyrie & Luka where just spamming the pick n roll and our coverages where extremely terrible.

I’m sure it’s the IQ of the players on defense (Randle/Ant/Reid) that don’t allow the coaching staff to implement those elite high synergy defense that are on strings.. but unless we change that I don’t think this team ever reaches the Finals and gets over the hump.

I also would like to say that on offense when are we gonna learn how to take advantage of Ant getting trapped at the top of the key. This is gonna 3 years in a row where we can’t effectively take advantage playing 4v5. OKC/Spurs will do the exact same thing again & again. We need to have a player run to the middle of the floor to breakdown the defense, preferably Randle or McDaniels.
