My mother can be embarrassing, overly cheerful, and way too bold sometimes… honestly, there are moments when I wish she would stop teasing me in public altogether. But no matter how much I complain or act annoyed, the truth is that she has always been one of the brightest and warmest people in my life.

Ever since I was little, she never treated me like I had to become perfect to deserve love. Even after I entered Academy City and became surrounded by expectations, rankings, and pressure, she still looked at me the same way she always had — not as Railgun, not as some powerful esper… but simply as her daughter.

That means more to me than I can ever properly say.

Mom has this incredible ability to make people feel comfortable around her. She laughs loudly, speaks honestly, and fills every room with warmth so naturally that you almost forget how much strength it takes to keep smiling like that every day. Whenever I came home exhausted or frustrated, she somehow always knew how to make things feel lighter again, even without saying anything special.

As I’ve grown older, I’ve started to understand how much she quietly protected me behind the scenes. Parents worry far more than they let their children realize. And yet she never chained me down with fear — she trusted me to walk forward on my own while still keeping a place for me to return to whenever I needed it.

That kind of kindness is stronger than any power I possess.

I know I’m not always easy to deal with. I can be stubborn, short-tempered, and terrible at expressing my feelings honestly… which, annoyingly enough, I probably inherited from you. But even during the times when we argue or tease each other, there’s never been a moment where I doubted your love.

You gave me a home where I could laugh. You gave me the courage to keep standing back up. And you reminded me that strength doesn’t exist just to fight — it exists to protect the people precious to us.

So Mom… thank you for every hug, every scolding, every smile, and every ordinary day that became precious because you were there.

I hope your future is filled with happiness, good health, and countless peaceful moments. I hope you continue laughing exactly the way you always do. And no matter how much time passes, I hope you know that I will always be grateful to be your daughter.

…Even if I still get embarrassed saying it out loud.
