Looking to get my first rep - 226659

Hey everyone, I’m new to the rep watch world and have been reading through the intro guide, spreadsheet, QC posts etc, but honestly there’s so much info that I’m getting a bit lost 😅

I’m looking specifically at the Rolex Yacht-Master 42 ref. 226659 on Oysterflex and want the closest possible version to gen (NWBIG level).

From what I understand, the process is basically:
find a TD → order → receive QC pics/videos → GL/RL → ship?

Also from my research, it seems like VSF and Clean are the top factories for this model. I’ve seen people say:

VSF = better crystal/movement
Clean = better exterior/case/bezel

For anyone who owns this model:

which factory did you go with?
would you still choose the same one today?
any advice for someone buying their first rep?

Would appreciate any tips from people who’ve actually owned/worn the YM42. Thanks guys 🙏
