Am i evil if i separate cats?
hey guys!
im seeking some help with my cat and i. i have a two year old cat named theo and he is a very anxious cat. im currently living at home, but im moving out to live closer to my uni campus. i really want to bring him with me because he’s kind of my little emotional support buddy.
the issue is my parents have two other cats, indigo (5) and clarance (9). indigo is very adventurous and will disappear for days before coming back home. she also has a bit of an attitude and does not like theo at all. she hisses at him and swipes at him as well. clarance couldn’t care less about anything and is genuinely the kindest and least bothered cat i’ve ever met. theo loves sleeping next to him on my mum and dads bed.
my mum and dad say it is “truly disgusting and awful of me as a human to think that it is a good idea” AND that i am evil if i do.to take theo with me when i move out.She does not work and cant drive so she is home 24/7 with the animals.
when im studying, i’ll only really be out of the house for around 12 hours a week in small intervals, so between classes i can come home and spend time with him. my boyfriend will also be home as he works night shifts.
im planning on making an appointment with the vet to see if i can get him some anxiety medication to help with the travel and adjustment for the first little while. im also looking into feliway to help him settle in too.
i just want to know if im being mean by separating them and if anyone has successfully separated cats before safely.
thank you so much for your time
