Interested in masochism? Try knitting in chenille yarn.
If you don't know what I mean, try it. You'll know by the time you cast on the second stitch.
Chenille has no stretch, super high friction against itself, and wears out painfully easily from pulling loops through each other. Given knitting's tendency to want stretch and glide between stitches, chenille is definitely best left to crochet.
I know all this, and yet I'm still the kind of idiot who sees a bulky chenille on the shelf and gets out the 8mm's. If you know another ridiculously impractical combination of yarn and specific fiber art, please share. I'll probably try it.
