friend also on glp1s has developed ED tendencies

CW: IWL, ED reference

hi everyone. wanted to see if anyone has experienced something like the following or had some advice.

I have a friend who went on a GLP1, who did not tell me (me specifically, she told other friends) for several months. This felt weird, mostly because she specifically seemed to exclude me but not thinner friends, but i kind of brushed it off because it’s her business anyway. she didnt need to tell me, i didnt need to tell her, yadda yadda. life goes on. i end up going on a glp1 a few months later and telling her.

i end up seeing her in person (we live on separate coasts) when she has been on the meds for about a year. She looks definitely thinner but not to a concerning degree or anything, but her behaviors - yeouch. she barely ate the entire time, and started spewing the most toxic bullshit. about how she wouldn’t do yoga because “it doesnt burn enough calories”, constantly body checking herself, performatively talking about how big her pants were and constantly pulling up her shirt to show her stomach. (the kind of pick me stuff me and her used to make fun of other people for) she also mentions throwing up a decent amount which she played off as normal for the med but since i was on it, i knew it wasnt normal. later on i noticed you could see her spine pretty clearly and she kept talking bad about herself. the list goes on… i was flabbergasted by all of this honestly, as i had a roommate in college who had to leave from severe anorexia but she was not even acting this way (more secretive) and i found all this very triggering (i have had restrictive eds in the past, and my friend knows this) so i basically had to play nice and grey rock most of the time, and steer convos away from toxic territory.

when i got back from visiting her, its almost like all her blabbering infected my brain. i had felt so good and so free on zep, before all this, and now suddenly it was making me feel weird about it. i really resented her for tying this toxic thing into how good it had felt for me. i struggled every now and again but mostly held strong. if anything i was maintaining or gaining weight bc of the stress from this.

a few months later, i ended up seeing her again, and she was much thinner this time. to the point where i started to see my college roommate in her face. at one point i confided in her MY struggles with ED feelings on the med (specifically from her… but i didnt mention this), and she decides this would be the perfect time for her to unload, starting off with her exact weight. we all know this is a giant no no. she absolutely knows this is a giant no no, when i had JUST said i was struggling, yet she does it anyway. she then goes on a genuinely batshit rant (which i wont detail but it was unhinged) where i literally have to zone out to protect my own brain for a minute. luckily two other friends are there so one of them can see jm struggling and steers the convo away. despite all this, i am still concerned for her and ask her privately if shes ok, she swears she is, so at this point i dont really have recourse. she is an adult. we dont’t even live in the same state. but i realized after this, perhaps she is not the healthiest person to have in my life.

i am not going no contact, but incredibly low contact. i’ve been doing better than before, but i still can’t seem to kick her wormy habits out of my brain, and i feel like i just feel so differently about the drug than i had previously. like, it’s helping me so much, i am able to think without food noise and i dont get the dopamine hits from foods, and i am exercising more frequently, but she’s still in the back of my mind, like a competition i didn’t even want to be in that i got dragged into.

does anyone have any advice or been through something similar? looking to push through this phase :/
