Feeling discouraged

Support Needed

My baby is 7 weeks old and we have been using a nipple shield from day 1 as I have inverted nipples. We have seen a lactation specialist 2x and every time she said his latch was great and he had been gaining great weight. BUT about a week ago I’ve had the most intense pain of my life and come to find out we both have thrush. Finally on antibiotics but my nipples are bleeding and I cannot breastfeed currently as the pain is so severe.

We have been having to supplement with formula and I am feeling so discouraged that I won’t be able to fully keep up with my babies demand and that honestly using formula recently has made me feel better knowing that I don’t have to pump or worry about it. But that leaves me with so much guilt that I am not supplying the best for my baby.

I feel like if I stop breastfeeding I am a failure to my baby and I am not supplying him with what he needs. Anyone able to help me here see both sides or share your experience of this?

Do I just push through the pain and keep going and honestly effect my mental state with the demand & constant worry or do I quit breastfeeding and give him formula but live with the constant guilt. 😞😞
