Losing my dog to lymphoma

My almost 6 year old pit bull was diagnosed with TCell lymphoma in January a week after he had a TPLO. I’m dreading the end but I sense that we’re in the weeks and months until we will need to say good bye. He’s failed two protocols and will be beginning a third.

I’m wondering if anyone has been through the palliative phase of cancer with a dog?

I’m also pretty committed to letting him go before he gets too sick. He’s been such a trooper and been through so much this year he does need to experience what will inevitably come for him. Does anyone have any experience with letting their pet go while they still feel good? Knowing nothing good is coming… I feel like it will be tempting to keep putting it off. I don’t want to waiver in my resolve.

I hate this so much.
