Alabasta is how the straw hats get to the forefront of finding laugh tale
I honestly think the ending of One Piece is going to be way less about “Luffy beats Imu because chosen one powerup” and way more about the world reconnecting itself through inherited will, freedom, and friendship.
If Lily really was the one responsible for scattering the poneglyphs across the world, then why WOULDN’T she have some kind of backup system?
The more I think about it, the more I feel like the Nefertaris/Lily are the missing piece to how the Straw Hats actually catch up to the endgame.
Because right now:
- Blackbeard is moving
- Shanks is moving
- Imu is literally entering the battlefield
- the world government is collapsing
- and the Straw Hats honestly still seem behind on the Road Poneglyphs.
So I started thinking:
what if Lily didn’t just scatter the poneglyphs randomly?
What if she created a decentralized contingency system knowing the WG would erase history?
Not just “here’s a diary with all the answers,” because that would answer too much:
- Will of D
- Ancient Kingdom
- Laugh Tale
- immortality
- Joy Boy
etc.
That feels too easy and not very Oda.
But what DOES feel Oda-like is a cryptic system of clues/artifacts/relics/messages spread across the world that only the right people together could actually decipher.
And that’s where this starts feeling crazy to me:
the Straw Hats might literally be the only crew capable of solving it because of the journey itself.
Think about it:
- Robin = archaeology/poneglyphs
- Vivi = Lily/Nefertari ties
- Jinbe = Fishman Island/Joy Boy promise
- Zoro = Wano/sword history
- Sanji = Germa/world govt/science connections
- Chopper = medicine/herbs/healing themes
- Nami = maps/relics/items she steals from every island lol
- Usopp = Elbaf/giant culture
- Luffy = Joy Boy/Nika/liberation itself
And then outside the crew:
- Momo
- Shirahoshi
- Zou
- Elbaf
- Alabasta
- Wano
- Skypiea
It’s like they unknowingly spent 20+ years reassembling fragments of the ancient world.
And honestly this feels VERY Oda to me.
Like imagine:
- Nami stole some random relic from an island 15 years ago because it looked expensive
- Chopper has some old medical text or herb from Dr. Kureha that turns out to matter
- Zoro’s swords connect to ancient kingdom history somehow
- Robin realizes a symbol they saw 800 chapters ago matters now
- Vivi has pieces of Lily’s system without fully understanding it
- Usopp accidentally knows giant folklore that becomes important
- Sanji has Germa/world govt info that connects pieces together
- Luffys straw hat was actually joyboys
Not because they were “chosen ones,” but because they actually lived through the world and connected with it.
Meanwhile the WG can’t solve the puzzle because they only understand control, hierarchy, and suppression. Even if they physically had pieces of the system, they wouldn’t understand the human side needed to connect it all.
The Straw Hats might literally be the first people in 800 years capable of reconstructing the world because they unknowingly rebuilt the relationships between all the cultures the WG separated.
I honestly feel like this is the most realistic way for the Straw Hats to suddenly push themselves to the forefront of Laugh Tale without it feeling forced.
