Fated mates but she running towards him not away

I feel like so many fated mates books have the guy trying to win over the girl and convince her. I want it the other way around. I want a girl that wants the true love of a fated mates and is psyched when she finds her mate but he's the one who's pulling back. Maybe he doesn't believe her, doesn't think he's good enough, is just an asshole etc.

Think Barbarian's Choice from Ice Planet Barbarians or Alien Heart from Fated Mates of the Sea Sand Warlords.

I would love it if it got the the give up stage where she throws up her hands and gives up on love forever before he swoops in with life affirming romance.
