Why do guys suddenly become dry?

What do you do when you're in a talking stage for a while and it was going really well, but they start being dry out of nowhere?

This guy and I were talking for some time, we would talk very often, like everyday. But suddenly became dry. He would initiate conversations frequently but when I respond his reply would be really dry. Often being "oh", "Imao", "bet", or just leave me on delivered for hours.

Seriously dont know what hes doing, because hes not like this and we would talk for hours. Im starting to think maybe the talking stage wasnt mutual.

Should i equally be dry or just act the same?
