Toddler refusal of medicine
My two (almost three year old) has strep throat right now. He has been so sick. 103 fever. Won’t eat won’t drink. I went on Friday to the doctor, they took one look at his throat and said it was strep. Prescribed him antibiotics, his first dose that night he threw up immediately. Next morning he refused the antibiotics so I sadly had to force it, only to end up in an immediate vomiting episode although this one he ended up choking on some of his throw up and we both ended up in tears. I called the doctor, they switched the flavor. It’s done nothing. He gags and pukes, or screams bloody murder. I’ve mixed the medicine in chocolate sauce, apple sauce, yogurt packet, ice cream, in a pb&j, frozen popsicles, milk… You name it, I HAVE DONE IT. He knows what it is right away and spits it out. I am so exhausted and he is so exhausted. I went back to the doctor today BEGGING for answers and help, only to be given a THIRD flavor that surprise…is not working. I begged for the penicillin shot and they said my doctor office doesn’t carry it. I went to an urgent care.… shocker, they also don’t carry the shot (?!?!?) and said they don’t feel comfortable giving it because they aren’t experienced with it. I am exhausted and now my son is going on strep day 5 with no meds. Please. Someone help. I have no idea what to do. I feel like I am failing my child
