Help with bus planning between Andong and Jeonju
Hello!
I am planning a trip to South Korea in September 2026. I am having a bit trouble with planning how to get between the cities - especially with buses.
I would be very grateful, if you could read this through and give me some advice!
Please tell me if anything is wrong:)
Incheon -> Seoul
AREX (express or all-stop) - Just buy ticket at vending machine if express, otherwise just use T-money card
Seoul -> Suwon
Either KTX Train (30 min) or subway line 1 (1 hour) (Seoul Station to Suwon station)
Seoul -> Sokcho
Express Bus (Seoul Express Bus Terminal -> Sokcho Express Bus Terminal), 2-2,5 hours
I have read something about buying the bus tickets on Klook for this trip specifically?
Socko -> Gangneung
Intercity Bus (Sokcho Intercity Bus Terminal -> Gangneung Intercity Bus Terminal), 1-1.5 hours
Gangneung -> Andong
Take the KTX from Gangneung Station to Seowonju Station, then change train to a KTX-Eum or ITX train to Andong Station. 3 hours.
Andong -> Jeonju
I have read this 14-year old post:
- There is no direct service between Andong and Jeonju. Take a bus to Daejeon first, then transfer to connecting bus to Jeonju.
- You'll see '직통' and '무정차' for buses towards Daejeon. Take the latter, which is non-stop service. They're at 07:10, 08:30, 11:50, 15:00, 17:00, 18:30 respectively, apprx. journey time 2h 10min. The former, departing in-between, takes half an hour longer.
- From Daejeon to Jeonju, buses are in every half an hour, for a 80-minute ride.
Is this true?
So the trip would be:
Andong Bus Terminal -> Daejeon Daejeon Terminal Complex -> Jeonju Express Bus Terminal
4 hours
Jeonju -> Seoul
Either of these:
- KTX train (2 hours) from Jeonju Station to Seoul Station
- Express bus (2.5-3 hours) from Jeonju Express Bus Terminal to Seoul Central City Bus Terminal
My thoughts:
For the KTX train tickets, I have read that it is reccomended to buy atleast 2 weeks in advance. Does the tickets go on sale 1 month before the departure date?
For the bus tickets, I have seen these websites:
- https://intercitybuse.tmoney.co.kr/
As far as I have found, tourists can't buy bus tickets online, but I can use the websites to find the bus times. Should I show up at the bus terminal the day before and buy the ticket in advance or is buying on the same day okay? How many days can you buy the bus ticket in advance at the bus station? Then on arrival to a new city, I can buy my bus ticket to go to the next place already.
What would you reccomend I do? I am a bit nervous about Andong -> Jeonju and having to buy all the bus tickets.
