AITAH for not giving up my seat on a flight
So last weekend I had a pretty long flight, around 8 or 9 hours, and I paid extra ahead of time for an aisle seat because I’m tall and sitting in the middle seat for that long honestly sucks for me.
After I got seated, this woman came over and asked if I could switch with her so she could sit next to her husband. I looked at the seat she wanted to switch me to and it was a middle seat way farther back. I told her sorry but I specifically paid for this seat.
She kind of rolled her eyes and went back to her row. A few minutes later her husband came over and asked again. He said they were celebrating their anniversary and wanted to sit together for the flight. I said I understood but I still wanted to keep my seat since I paid extra for it.
After that they didn’t directly talk to me anymore but they kept making little comments to each other loud enough for me to hear like “people are so selfish now” and “it would’ve cost him nothing to be nice.” It made the whole thing really uncomfortable.
At one point a flight attendant asked if everything was okay and I just said they wanted me to switch seats and I preferred to stay where I booked. The flight attendant basically said nobody has to switch if they don’t want to and that was it.
I told my friends about it after and got mixed reactions. Some said if I paid for the seat then obviously I should keep it, but a couple people said I could’ve just done something nice for them since it was only one flight.
AITAH?
