Let's face it. Live service is bullshit. Well, specifically the lack of control.

And the increased cost over time. Also, not being able play it after the parent company shuts down the servers.

Anyways...I am a bit drunk ATM, but here goes.

Arrowhead has made some real boneheaded decisions we all know.

But what is the root cause? A mystery for the ages

I am blaming it on capitalism/corporate technofeudalism...but that's just me.

Anyways, politics aside...as someone with over 1000+ hours, thought I would weight in.

-The game core is still really fun

-The latest changes are awful and could easily be fixed if Arrowhead cared

-The community could mod shit in faster than Arrowhead could code it

This reminds me of another legendary game:

Tribes Ascend

Tribes Ascend had potential to replace CounterStrike in eSports...but the dev shit the bed and people dropped off...but thankfully the devs released the SDK and now we have completely empty (except for once a month...SAD!) public custom servers! Once a month I get to relive my Shrike glory days. (Shoutout to Enceladus and Sacred Shrike. U fuckin legend XD. I learned how to fly from you 😄)

This is just a pipe dream, but what if...

Arrowhead just released as open source and let people fix the game.

Maybe not the entire code...could be a SDK

Let people make github branches of the game before the official servers shutdown

They could become legends again

Hell, Alexus could build his own personal hell server just the way he wants. and some people would join it 😆

Personally, I would prefer a Mecha resupply and repair vehicle, and a medical themed warbond (stim pistol drone! autolock stim pistol). Oh and custom skins.

But that depends on two things:

-Arrowhead actually has to care

-They can get this past Sony (Sony would probably demand they do a SDK NDA thing...but it is better than nothing)

I think Sony would be more cooperative than Arrowhead at this point
