My BF LOVEEEEE One Piece, and I secretly kinda hate it.

Hi, I'm F27 and my BF35. I've been watching anime since middle school so this is not some new territory for me, although I haven't really watch any anime these last 3 years because...life? Anyway, my BF, he REALLY LOVES One Piece, the manga, anime, and the netflix adaptation.

He knew I don't watch or read OP, but he keep trying to make me like it. He showed me scenes he thought really cool in the anime, showed me panels from the manga he thought really cool and really detailed, etc.

I ofc love to see him excited showing me things that he love. But to be painfully honest, I've seen way more amazing art from another show/manga, so it's not really that amazing for me.
Also we both work in animation industry, so, we usually talked about the technicality of said scenes/panels. This is making me question his fixation more on this particular scene or panels, because what? This is the BEST you've seen in your life?? Working in our field???

Not to mention I actually kind of hate OP originally, before meeting him. But I understand how people maybe love these series as they grew up with them, and I grew up watching other shows. Even after I started to watch anime, I still don't like it. Not because of the story, but because it just takes too long to catch up too and I don't like the art style. I know it's fiction, but just the way they make the female character, just make me uncomfortable and I can't enjoy the story.

I actually like some of the arc, my BF know that I don't want to watch or read the manga, I said because it's too many and I don't want to start now. So he asked me to watch the netflix adaptation together. And it turned out okay. I actually like the plot. That's why I'm fine watching the show.

I guess I just want to rant about this, because my BF only know that I don't keep up with OP because the painfully long chapters and episodes. When I actually tried to watch it long ago, but i just HATE the art style, which he insist is the best thing in the world. I don't want my BF to know because he'll do anything, to make me like the manga and the anime, and when he did that, it's actually making me like it even less.
