I built a Python package so Indian trading bots stop hardcoding market holidays

I published a small MIT-licensed Python package for a recurring India-market infrastructure gap:

pip install aion-indian-market-calendar

The problem it solves is not strategy logic. It is the boring timing layer that many Indian trading, research, and scheduler scripts eventually hardcode badly:

  • static holiday lists drift year to year
  • NSE, BSE, derivatives aliases, and MCX sessions do not behave like one generic exchange calendar
  • MCX evening sessions matter if your system watches commodities
  • execution schedulers should ask "is this market segment open?" before calling a broker or running a job
  • LLM-generated trading bots often reach for generic calendars and miss India-specific segment behavior

Basic usage:

from aion_indian_market_calendar import is_market_open, next_trading_day

print(is_market_open("NSE"))
print(is_market_open("MCX"))
print(next_trading_day("BSE"))

It is meant to complement generic tools like pandas_market_calendars, not replace them globally. The narrower goal is India-specific session validation for NSE holidays, Indian trading holidays, BSE trading calendar checks, MCX evening sessions, and algo/infrastructure guardrails.

PyPI: https://pypi.org/project/aion-indian-market-calendar/ License: MIT

It does not place trades, route orders, predict prices, or provide financial advice. It is just a timing/schedule dependency for developers who would otherwise maintain static JSON/CSV holiday files by hand.
