Do you actually let AI tools refactor multiple files at once?
I have been thanking how people handle larger refactors with AI coding tools. Most of them can work across entire repos pretty easily now. But I still find myself being more cautious when something affects a lot of files at once.
When i am focused on a single feature, everything seems okay but as soon as I start changing shared utilities, hooks, configurations, or moving things between folders I slow down and become much more careful. At this point I manually review most of every step to make sure it's correct.
Lately I have been using Claude Code with wozcode on a TypeScript project. It feels pretty solid for iterative changes, especially when I keep tasks scoped. Still, I do not fully trust massive automated refactors unless the project structure is extremely clean.
I am want to know where other developers stand on this issue. Are you okay with letting these tools manage large repository changes? Or do you keep strict control over them?
