Trying to switch career from Digital Marketing to Data Engineer or Software Engineering, is that a good idea?

Advice

I am 27 and have worked as a digital marketing specialist for 5 years, mainly focusing on ads and performance marketing. I've also explored social media, SEO, and some management tasks. Despite this experience, I feel unfulfilled and realize that I dislike my job.

You know, uncertainty in this job. I don't dislike AI and would consider using it, but I worry that its growing presence in marketing is removing the enjoyable parts of the work. too many external factors like client budget, the market condition, and all of my positions are generally under direct management, which sometimes have unreasonable ideas.

I could really use some advice here. I’m thinking about switching to a career where I can build things and one that doesn’t have too many external factors in it, so that the main challenge is my own skills or perhaps the time constraints. I have been considering switching to data engineering or software engineering, but many people here say that the job market is too saturated. Is that true?

I am currently working remotely and do not plan to quit right away. I just want to slowly build the necessary skills and portfolio, but I want to ensure that I am at least moving in the right direction. Do you think those are the right careers to switch to, given my situation? Or are there perhaps better options?

Note: I am based in a third-world country and work remotely for an overseas company. For someone in my position, are these jobs also saturated globally?
