do i need a real id if i have a passport already?

Sorry if this is not the place to ask, but I’m getting confused about all the REAL ID stuff lately. I keep seeing airport reminders everywhere and now I’m second guessing whether I need to update my license.

I already have a valid passport, which is why I’m confused. I don’t travel constantly, maybe a few flights a year, but I’d rather not show up at the airport one day and realize I misunderstood the rules.
I started reading government pages last night and somehow ended up more uncertain than before. Some explanations make it sound like a passport is enough, others talk like everyone absolutely needs a real id no matter what.
Does a passport completely replaces the need for a real id for domestic travel, or if there are situations where you still need both.

For people who already travel with a passport, do i need a real id if i have a passport or am I overthinking this?
