Inspirion 7590 trackpad not working
a few months ago my trackpad stopped working and its starting to drive me crazy. The I2C HID driver isn't working. theres 2 drivers labeled as I2C HID and one is throwing an error code, the other says its working fine.
Device status for the one with the error reads:
"This device cannot start (Code 10)
A request for HID descriptor failed. This typically occurs when there is a problem with the device firmware.
Please contact the system manufacturer for further assistance."
stuff i have already tried to fix it:
- disable driver, restart pc, re-enable driver throwing error code
- uninstall driver throwing error code, restart pc (this was working for a while but has stopped working, also every time I turned off my laptop I would have to do it again)
- update driver throwing error code
- change trackpad settings in BIOS (did this a while ago, dont remember exactly what I did tbh but it changed nothing and i fiddled around with it in different setting configurations for like 2 hours)
If anyone had advice it would be greatly appreciated
