Is there any way to visit a new server without wasting your transfer token to check it has room for your bases?

Hey all! I am one of the many world-server migrants due to the closure of my home server, Orpheus | Saajid

I want to visit a new server in order to check if my base locations have been taken before I move, but the only way I can see to accomplish that is to make a new character which seems hardly ideal. Am I missing something?
