Montblanc Meisterstück LeGrand
Hello FP community and I hope everyone is doing well today 😊
There’s a Montblanc shop at a nearby mall and I have no clue why I never went in to try out one of their FPs.
This time I did especially since I’m traveling to pick up my Pilot a custom 823 soon which I managed to pick up for a pretty discounted price.
Back to the topic lol; the gentleman in the store kindly let me try a Montblanc Meisterstück LeGrand [I believe it felt like the mid sized one and definitely not the 149 I picked up which was completely huge and I’m hoping my 823 is around the same size as the 146] and to my surprise it felt quite dry [I’m sure they used their proprietary brand of cartridges] and a lot of feedback when writing with the pen [granted it was a <F> but still I wasn’t expecting it to be very scratchy.
Just thought I’d share my first experience with a MB 146 and compare it with the 823 <M> with Iroshizuku Yama-budo and Ama-iro are the inks I went for.
I’m also picking up a Faber-Castel Ambition <F> [supposedly the best steel nib?] at half price 😂 two bargains I couldn’t resist and yes, it’s true this hobby is an expensive one cause the guy at the store offered a discount for the Burgundy 146 but I managed to control that impulse 😂
My only experience with FPs so far has been with Pilot Metropolitan <M> and the pilot cartridges were smooth but recently I’ve inked it with Pelikan 4001 RB while it does have a bit of feedback, it’s still a pleasant one but not so much the experience with the 146 that left me pondering the price tag and hype for MBs no disrespect intended the Germans are well known for quality which fingers crossed I will get to experience with the Ambition if it doesn’t turn out to be a fake from Amazon at that price 😂
Thank you for taking the time to read my journey so far and I’ll post more when I pickup the inks and pens and start having fun with them 😃
Have a great day everyone.
