Favorite Flower

He stands before me, encumbered in light.
He’s old and ancient; the sight of him consumes all my fright.
His warmth could melt the coldest of hearts.
Yet I define him. I define that eternal light.

To me, you are more than they see.
To me, you’re my father; to you, I’m a live fire.
So curse you for expelling me from our home.
Curse you for making me king down under

I led your armies once, angelic with power.
I was your favorite flower.
Yet you betrayed me, the king of fire.

I’ve come, old man, to claim this tower.
You hold yourself high upon it.
My army fears no soul,
it’ll strip you of all control .

My brothers will bow to me,
or they’ll join the souls burned in hellfire.

My sword is made of cursed steel.
It was Gabriel’s, you remember?
He died just as he lived: a prudish prick.

Is this what you wanted?
All this for an ape that doesn’t fling its own shit.

I once was a snake in a garden,
with a passion for poison.
Now I’m lord without compassion,
ruler of all dimensions.

And just as Eve has done, so will you.
Breathe in my passion and give in to corruption,
and maybe I’ll spare you.
Maybe I’ll show compassion.

Give you a kingdom with no desire,
no light—only hellfire.
