I thought I just had thin hair. This is new.
For context, I'm a trans woman.
For many years, my hair was fine. It even thickened after starting hormones. After the past few years, I've noticed it seemed a little thinner at the top, with "hairballs" forming, and when I grab my hair together, it doesn't feel substantial like it used it. I know I've been extremely stressed for the past few years but nothing in my diet has changed and I haven't started any medications that have hair loss as a side effect.
I took a video to look at the top of my hair to playfully see if I had any greys, but instead saw that my scalp and even the side of my head was showing through in one place. My hair's been important to me my whole life and it's overwhelming to realize just how thin it's gotten since I can only see such a limited perspective in the bathroom mirror.
I haven't tried any creams or meds or talked to my provider about it.
I'm 34 if it matters.
