Unsupportive women around IRL
Just need to vent a bit. All my thoughts and feelings are heightened by the pregnancy hormones.
I have a small family. Most of my family are in-laws. The women in the family all had several children, though it was years ago.
I noticed that these women have absolutely nothing helpful or useful to say to me.
The ones who went through pregnancies most recently could at least suggest OBs or hospitals or give any helpful advice. But no. They shared nothing. They also don't check up on me. I practically only see them on special occasions.
The older one, from the previous generation, says the most unhelpful things. Like describing her childbirths in gory detail (they went fine but with her dramatization it sounds horrible). Or criticizing little things about me. Or saying I shouldn't buy stuff for the baby yet (that should be MY decision!).
One is older and childless. Rarely visits, so I only see her once every few months. When she calls, she usually rants about her life and her problems. Doesn't really ask me about my worries. She's eager for the baby to arrive to "spoil" them... but where am I in this scenario? Am I just an incubator?
Everyone in the family wanted me to have a baby. The pressure was real. I delayed it years and did it on my own time. It wasn't an easy process.
Now I feel just... so alone. So unsupported. I'll probably eventually get some baby gifts but that's just... stuff. What about my emotional support?
Pregnancy is lonely.
