AIO my family saying my room smells update
Never done an update before but ill try link the original post here. Basically i posted this : Am I overreacting about my family saying my room smells?
two days ago (TLDR; my family keeps saying my room smells despite everything I'm doing to keep clean). Since then I made a list out of everything the comments suggested plus some stuff I was directed to research and brought it to my dad, including asking if we could see the building manager to check the vents or pipes. I think he hadn't realised up until that point how seriously i was taking this, so we sat down and talked properly about it. He described the smell to me in a pretty confusing manner, he said it was a "high smell", not a "low pungent odour", which seems to confirm the theory that they were exaggerating a little and also shoots down the theory that it's the pipe (we checked the pipes anyways because of some other issues, but its safe to say that's not the cause). He also said it was a "human smell", but clarified that it wasn't b.o, it just smelled "human". Honestly, I don't have half of an idea what that means, but I'm taking it as that it's like some of you said - it's something related to myself that I've gone nose blind to. We worked out a regimen for washing clothes and sheets because my dad said my frantic washing every time someone made a comment was unnecessary and expensive (which is pretty fair). We're gonna go out and get some of those deodorising shoe things someone mentioned as well, and I've started blow-drying my hair instead of letting it air dry after reading someone's comment about wet hair causing smells to stick around (thanks to that person for being really nice about it too). My sister remains vague and rude about it, but thats par for the course. My dad also said that the air freshener helps, and since its now winter keeping my window open is (in his words) helping too - apparently the smell was worse in summer, which makes a lot of sense. we gave the walls a basic wash and I vacuumed both my room and the ensuite again, and the only thing to really do now is keep it up and see if anything improves. My dad was really understanding, he said he knew being gross wasn't something I'd ever do on purpose and actually said he was proud of me for being so vigilant about cleaning, which was really nice to hear. I'll update again if anything significant happens, but for now this is what we're up to. also thanks to the many people who were nice to me and offering genuine advice, getting support when i was half convinced i was either going crazy or accidentally some insanely unhygienic slob did a lot for my confidence and gave me the boost i needed to properly talk to my dad about this. you're all awesome and i owe a dept of gratitude for how much you helped me out.
