Paleness and itching
Hi everyone,
this post is not for me, but for my husband.
I' m really desperate as I think that we have overseen some severe episode with low oxygen now twice.
He was diagnosed with severe asthma 5 years ago and directly put on Dupixent, which was well tolerated, except itching nose/ face. He didn't need his inhalers most of the time. Then last September there was an episode, where he felt sick, no signs of fever just very pale and weak and some coughing. He got some antibiotics.
The itching increased over winter and got so unbearable, that he couldn't sleep, because every 10 min to half an hour he startles during sleeps, scratches his nose and so on.
In February he switched to Nucala. Nose obstruction is back, so he uses mometason nose spray for this.
The last days he started feeling sick, weak and his oxygen dropped to 93% (usually 96-97%) and a little bit of coughing. Again he was very pale and had cold hands. But as everyone knows those devices can be misleading.
The typical signs of an asthma attack were never there. I'm really afraid that this was happening gradually and that lack of oxygen increased over time.
He know uses his asthma sprays (Ciclobronch/ Forair) again which brings his oxygen level back to 95%- 96%.
I was wondering, if in this case it would have been better to use his Salbutamol Spray, which he never had to before. Not even sure about the dosage.
Has anyone heard about or experienced paleness and cold hands? Or is this already the very alarming stage?
How should we know when to act, when the signs appear so late?
I'm really scared.
