Admission with a 1-year University Bridge (12+1 system) – Does a relevant major boost the application?
Hey everyone,
I’m planning to apply for AI and Computer Science programs in Germany. Since my high school curriculum is 12 years, I need to complete one university year in my home country to be eligible for direct admission (to meet the HZB requirements).
I’ll be spending my first year studying AI/CS locally before applying to German universities for the 2027 intake.
I’d love to hear from people who followed a similar path:
- Your Profile: What were your qualifications (GPA, Language level, etc.) when you applied and got accepted?
- Relevancy: In your experience, does completing the "bridge year" in the same major you're applying for act as a strength point or "competitive edge" in the eyes of admissions officers?
- Comparison: For those who chose this route instead of a Studienkolleg, any specific tips on how to handle the documentation or make the application stand out?
Looking forward to your insights. Thanks!
